It's a pleasure to report the bands triumph at the weekend, in the Royston Vasey annual enterrainment Contest, winning "best hymn". The band received a delightful little cup from contest secretary Hans Offah (with a sticker saying 27p on the bottom) and half a dozen pickled eggs. One local spectator, Ann Teek, was asked about the performace, "I love that Highland Catheter me"" Obviously she enjoyed the day as much as the band.

Just a quickie Ahem ! to share toms good news
Tom came 1st in the under 16's Brass Soloist Competition at Wansbeck on Saturday, so he's got the trophy back he won last year (more silver to polish for me then).
Tom also came 2nd in the other under 16's brass soloist section. We had a fantastic day and listened to many talented young musicians. The contest was adjudicated by Alan Fearnie who commented on Thomas' warm sound, ability to phrase and use dynamics and entertain the audience. A great follow up to his grade 5 merit in March. I'm sure he'll bring along his certificates and trophy to next band rehersal to show them off.

Im sure you will all know by now.

Just want to thank the band for the work put in for the contest and for the performance on sunday. Dont think ive ever been as dissapointed with a result and cant wait to hear the recording of the live performance. Thought seventh was really harsh,however,thats contesting. Roll on Carnergie.

Perhaps the band would have more luck if they played 'the seasons' by DENIS wilby!!!!!!!! did anyone ever find out what the second movement was called?

This is just a quick message to say that I enjoyed Sunday's competition very much. I was relieved to make it as some daft cornet player broke my leg (sob!) the night before. What an appreciative audience.If anyone is wondering where my band jacket and dickybow are-they're back in the wardrobe thing in the bandroom(incase you thought I was going to sell them on ebay!) Will see you all when I get back from hols and I'll arrange when I'm going out for my birthday. The workshop thingy on the 9th of april was fun. i learnt lots of stuff and it was very funny when wilbert had crackers with some ham , pasta and grapefruit on the top!!!!!!!!The only thing i didnt like was dinner it was very scary!!!!!!

A BIG thank you to everyone for the hard work you put in for this contest and for sundays performance.
